Every reading list publishes the half that flatters it. This is the other half. A bar you cannot see is the same as no bar at all, so the works that did not clear it are listed here with the reason.
The reasons are about fit — superseded, too narrow, no free copy worth linking, better covered elsewhere in the library. They are not reviews. Nothing here is linked: a work that did not make the library does not get traffic from it.

Rejections have been made — no catalogue of nine hundred works was assembled without them — but they were not written down at the time, and inventing them after the fact would make this page a decoration rather than a record. It fills up from the next population wave onward.
